The Spokane Chiefs have named Chase Harrington as the 39^th team Captain in franchise history ahead of the 2026-2027 home opener.

Harrington, a 6’1” left winger, is entering his fourth season wearing a Spokane sweater. In the 2025-26 season, he scored 28 goals and 29 assists, tallying 57 points in 61 games.

The Prince George native was also selected in the second round (36^th overall) of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames.

Forwards Gavin Burcar, Owen Martin, and defensemen Rhett Sather and Marek Howell have been announced as Alternate Captains.

Martin, a 6’0” center from Oakbank, MB, returns to Spokane for his fourth season as a Chief. Last season, he doubled his goal output with 26 goals, recorded 30 assists for 56 points. He was also named the Ken Rabel Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year last season.

From Calgary, AB, Howell is entering his fifth year in the WHL. He began last season in Vancouver playing for new Spokane Associate Head Coach Parker Burgess, before coming to Spokane in a midseason trade. Howell recorded a career-high six goals and chipped in 11 assists a season ago.

Sather enters his third year as a Spokane Chief after tripling his point output in the 2025-26 season. From Cochrane, AB, the 6’0” defensemen put up 11 goals and 29 points, tallying 40 points. He was named the Chiefs John “Hitman” Hern Defenseman of the Year last season.

From Cota De Cazo, California, Burcar played 63 games for the Spokane Chiefs as a rookie in the 2025-26 season, recording seven goals and 17 points. He led Team USA in scoring at the 2026 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup with five goals and four assists for nine points across five games, helping capture a silver medal.

The five players were announced during the Blue Moon Opening Night pre-game ceremony on September 26.
