Rockets sign Von Lakovic to WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement
Kelowna, B.C., — The Kelowna Rockets announced today that the club has signed 2009-born forward Von Lakovic to a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement.
Lakovic, 16, is a 6-foot, 181-pound right-shot forward from Kelowna, BC. The Rockets selected the local product in the sixth round, 113th overall, of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
Lakovic is coming off a breakout 2025-26 campaign with the Okanagan Rockets U18 AAA, where he recorded 17 goals and 25 assists for 42 points in 33 regular-season games. He elevated his production in the postseason, registering 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points in six games while helping the Okanagan Rockets capture their second consecutive BCEHL U18 Championship.
He continued his strong season on the national stage, recording three goals and two assists in seven games at the 2026 TELUS Cup.
A skilled forward with good size and vision, Lakovic has shown an ability to create offence in tight areas and find open space away from the puck. He competes at both ends of the ice and uses his length effectively to create plays and battle for possession.
“Von has continued to take significant steps in his development and earned this opportunity,” said Rockets General Manager Curtis Hamilton. “He brings skill and competitiveness to our group, and we’ve been impressed with the progression in his game.”
Lakovic has already appeared in one WHL regular-season game, making his debut with Kelowna during the 2025-26 season. He could make his second career WHL appearance on Saturday when the Rockets open the 2026-27 regular season on the road against the Vancouver Giants.
