Portland, Victoria to meet in second-ever playoff battle
For just the second time in WHL history, Portland (2) and Victoria (7) will meet in a Pacific Northwest postseason battle.
The matchup was settled with Prince George winning against the Kamloops Blazers to seal first place in the Western Conference and ensure the powerhouse Winterhawks finish second.
Portland and Victoria have only met once in the postseason- a 4-1 Winterhawks win in 2014 en route to a trip to the WHL final.
The Winterhawks swept the regular season series against the Royals 4-0-0-0, though one of the wins required overtime and another needed a shootout.
Game One of the first-round matchup is scheduled for Friday, March 29 in the Rose City at 7:00 p.m. PST.
The series moved to Victoria for Game Three on Tuesday, April 2 at 7:05 p.m. PST.
