Blades acquire Malchuk from Royals
The Victoria Royals and Saskatoon Blades teamed up to make another trade Wednesday, sending 18-year-old defenceman Parker Malchuk to the Land of Living Skies.
Saskatoon acquired the 5-foot-9, 170-pound product of Birtle, Man. in exchange for a conditional tenth-round selection in the 2020 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
Originally listed by the Royals, the 2001-born rear guard posted a single assist and 10 penalty minutes in 56 regular season games last season with the Royals. Malchuk also appeared in four games during the 2019 WHL Playoffs, recording a plus-one rating and two penalty minutes.
A product of the Yellowhead Midget AAA Chiefs, Malchuk posted 32 points (13G-19A) in 41 games during the 2017-18 season. He also appeared in two games with the Neepawa Natives of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League that season, posting one goal.
Earlier today, the Blades acquired defenceman Scott Walford from the Blades in exchange for forward Gary Haden as part of a larger deal.
