KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 2016 First Round Bantam Draft pick Sasha Mutala to a standard WHL Players Agreement.
Mutala was drafted sixth overall by the Americans in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft earlier this month.
“This is an exciting day for our team and Sasha,” stated Tory. “He is a dynamic offensive player who competes hard each and every shift. We look forward to following Sasha’s development this upcoming season.”
The 6’0”, 175 lb. native of Vancouver, B.C. will attend the Americans training camp beginning August 24th at Toyota Center and will participate in the pre-season tournaments with the club. He is eligible as a 15-year-old player to play five regular season games in the 2016-17 campaign, then is eligible to join the club following the completion of his midget season.
“I was extremely excited to have my name called by Tri-City on draft day” stated Mutala. “I have heard lots of great things about the organization and am thrilled to be joining the club. I look forward to attending camp and meeting everyone.”
