Americans acquire netminder Kelsey from Rebels
The Tri-City Americans have acquired 19-year-old goaltender Kyle Kelsey from the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for two draft picks.
Kelsey, a product of Maple Ridge, B.C., has appeared in six games this season, going 2-3-0-1 with a 2.49 goals-against average and .917 save percentage. He was named WHL Goaltender of the Week back on October 10.
“Kyle is an experienced WHL goaltender who will provide tremendous depth to our goaltending position,” said Bob Tory, General Manager of the Americans.
In exchange for Kelsey, the Rebels receive a fourth-round selection in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft and a second-round selection in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.
In 43 career WHL Regular Season appearances, Kelsey has earned a record of 23-14-2-4 with a 2.62 GAA, .909 SV% and four shutouts. He has also seen action in 11 WHL Playoff games, going 7-2-1 with a 2.36 GAA, .912 SV% and one shutout.
The 6-foot-2, 177-pound puckstopper was originally selected by the Moose Jaw Warriors in the fifth round (107th overall) of the 2019 WHL Draft.
The Tri-City Americans return to action Wednesday, November 1 (7:05 p.m. PT) when they host the Vancouver Giants at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.
