2024 NHL Draft eligible forward Parascak named Kal Tire WHL Rookie of the Week
Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League announced today that Terik Parascak of the Prince George Cougars has been named Kal Tire WHL Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 17, 2023.
The 17-year-old netted three goals and four assists in three contests as Prince George went 2-1-0-0 for the week.
Parascak kicked off the week in style, outwaiting an Everett Silvertips defender in the slot to snap his 24th goal of the season home, though the Cougars would fall 5-2. He would strike again the following game, threading the puck past the Wenatchee goaltender on a partial breakaway and adding a pair of assists as the Cougars doubled up the Wild 6-3. The star rookie put a bow on the pre-holiday finale with a goal, two assists and a plus-4 rating in a 9-2 drubbing of the Vancouver Giants.
The 5-foot-11, 179-pound winger is currently riding a six-game point streak that’s seen him put up 12 points (four goals, eight assists). He leads all rookies across the CHL with 26 goals and 26 assists in 33 games.
This marks the fourth time Parascak has earned Rookie of the Week honours.
Parascak is eligible to be selected at the 2024 NHL Entry Draft in Las Vegas, Nev. in June and was given a ‘B’ rating by the Central Scouting Service in October. A ‘B’ rating projects second or third-round candidates.
Prince George (24-9-0-0) sits first in the WHL and returns to action on December 27 for a home tilt against the Edmonton Oil Kings.
