Cougars forward Parascak named WHL Rookie of the Week
Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League announced today Prince George Cougars forward Terik Parascak has been named WHL Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 8, 2023.
Parascak, 17, recorded six points (4G-2A) in four games this week as the Cougars went 3-1-0-0 at home.
This marks the second consecutive week Parascak has been named WHL Rookie of the Week.
After being held off the scoresheet for the first time this season (October 3 vs. Kelowna), Parascak responded with a three-point performance (2G-1A) Wednesday, October 4 in an 8-1 win over the Rockets. His second goal of the game stood up as the game-winner and he was named First Star for his efforts.
The 5-foot-11, 179-pound right winger recorded two more goals Friday, October 6 in a 6-4 win over the visiting Wenatchee Wild. He opened the scoring with a power-play strike in the first period before adding an even-strength tally in the third period. Parascak was named the game’s Second Star.
Parascak rounded out his weekend with one primary assist Saturday, October 7 in a 6-3 loss versus Wenatchee.
Originally selected by the Cougars in the fourth round (76th overall) of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, Parascak has tallied 18 points (12G-6A) in eight games this season, good enough to sit second in the WHL among all point-getters. He leads all rookie skaters in scoring, with a seven-point advantage over the nearest competitor.
Terik Parascak and the Prince George Cougars return to action Wednesday, October 11 (7 p.m. PT) when they host the Swift Current Broncos at CN Centre.
