2016 WHL Championship Series Schedule

Brandon, MB – The Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the 2016 MasterCard Memorial Cup host Red Deer Rebels on Friday night to claim the WHL Eastern Conference title in five games and set up the 2016 WHL Championship Series. The Brandon Wheat Kings will now face the Seattle Thunderbirds for the Ed Chynoweth Cup.

The T-Birds previously dispatched the reigning WHL Champions, the Kelowna Rockets, in four straight games to punch their ticket to the WHL Championship Series. It is Seattle’s first trip to the WHL Championship series since 1997.

The 2016 WHL Championship Series will kick off next Friday in Manitoba, live on Sportsnet. The series will see a 2-3-2 format used.

Game 1 will be available on Sportsnet, while all remaining games will be available on the WHL on Shaw.
