SUNDAY’S WHL PLAYOFF MATCH-UPS – Colin Fraser (pictured) and the Red Deer Rebels will try and stave off elimination as they host the Medicine Hat Tigers tonight in game six of their first-round series.

rThe Rebels fell 5-4 on Friday night in Medicine Hat, leaving them down 2-3 in the best-of-seven series. Red Deer needs to win tonight to force a seventh and deciding game in the series. Defenceman Dion Phaneuf has two assists and is minus-four through the first five games of the series.

rThe Tigers, who lead the series 3 three games to two, have won two straight games in the series and could eliminate the Rebels with a win tonight. The Tigers have outscored the Rebels 11-5 in the last two games of the series. Medicine Hat scratches: Cody Blanshan.

rElsewhere on Sunday, the Kootenay Ice have their sights set on the second round as they visit the Kamloops Blazers in game six of their first-round match-up.

rThe Ice managed a 5-2 victory over the Blazers on Friday night, giving them a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series, and could eliminate the Blazers with a victory tonight. Dale Mahovsky (3g-3a) leads the Ice in playoff scoring with six points. Kootenay scratches: No definite scratches.

rThe Blazers, down 2-3 in the series, need a win tonight to stay alive and force a seventh and deciding game in the series. Kamloops has held the Ice to just three power play goals on 29 opportunities through the first five games of the series.
