CAREY PRICE WINS LOU MARSH AWARD
The Western Hockey League would like to congratulate former Tri-City Americans goaltender Carey Price who today received the Lou Marsh Award as Canada’s top athlete.
Price becomes the ninth hockey player, and first goaltender, to win the prestigious award and just the second WHL graduate to earn the honour. Bobby Clarke won the award in 1975.
The Lou Marsh Award has been handed out 71 times since 1936 and is selected by an 11-person panel of media members.
A product of Anahim Lake, BC, Price racked up an 83-74-9-3 record in 193 career regular season games to go along with a 2.53 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Price was named the WHL and CHL’s Goaltender of the Year in 2007 before beginning his already-illustrious professional career.
