Former Winterhawks star Jarvis added to Canada’s men’s hockey team for 2026 Olympic Winter Games

Calgary, Alta. – Former Portland Winterhawks star Seth Jarvis is headed to Italy after being added to Canada’s men’s hockey team for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games on Thursday.

Jarvis, a 24-year-old product of Winnipeg and a forward with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, was named to Canada’s roster as an injury replacement for former Moose Jaw Warriors star Brayden Point, who is unable to compete.

“I can’t even explain it… I’m super honoured,” Jarvis told Hanna Yates of FanDuel Sports Network on Thursday. “To be able to play at the highest level on a stage like this is everyone’s dream. To be able to do it with my family is going to be fun.”

Selected by the Hurricanes in the first round (13th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft, the 5-foot-10, 181-pound Jarvis represented Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025, helping his country claim gold. Through 49 games with the Hurricanes this season, the pesky forward has tallied 43 points (25G-18A).

Over the course of five NHL seasons, Jarvis has collected 256 points (121G-135A) in 353 games.

Prior to advancing to the NHL, Jarvis developed with the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks. Originally selected by the Winterhawks in the first round (11th overall) of the 2017 WHL Prospects Draft, Jarvis went on to appear in 154 career WHL regular season games with the Winterhawks, registering 166 points (73G-93A).

The 2019-20 campaign represented Jarvis’s best in the WHL. After competing in the CHL Top Prospects Game, he was named to the WHL’s Western Conference First All-Star Team and was recognized with the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy, presented annually to the WHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player. That season, Jarvis posted a career best 98 points (42G-56A) in 58 games.

Jarvis joins eight other WHL alumni set to represent Canada at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. Previously named to the roster are goaltenders Darcy Kuemper (Red Deer Rebels) and Logan Thompson (Brandon Wheat Kings), defencemen Josh Morrissey (Prince Albert Raiders, Kelowna Rockets), Travis Sanheim (Calgary Hitmen), and Shea Theodore (Seattle Thunderbirds), along with forwards Brandon Hagel (Red Deer Rebels), Sam Reinhart (Kootenay ICE), and Mark Stone (Brandon Wheat Kings).

Men’s hockey at Milano Cortina 2026 will take place February 11-12, 2026 (Days 5-16). Canada will open the tournament against Czechia on February 12 at 10:40 a.m. ET / 7:40 a.m. PT in preliminary-round place.
