A proud second-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the ICE alumni, who are now also members of the #WildFamily, making news in American pro hockey this week:
NHL
SAM REINHART, 2010-15 (13 GP, 10-11-21) – Cruised out of the weekend (and into his 29th birthday on Wednesday) as the NHL’s leading scorer and leading goal-scorer, riding a four-game goal-scoring streak for the Florida Panthers. On a two-game visit to Tampere, Finland against the Dallas Stars, he picked up two goals and an assist in Friday’s 6-4 win, before posting another goal and assist Saturday in a 4-2 win.
CONOR GEEKIE, 2019-24 (12 GP, 2-1-3) – Picked up his second NHL goal on Wednesday for the Tampa Bay Lightning, scoring five-and-a-half minutes into a 5-2 win as part of a three-goal first period.
NOAH PHILP, 2015-17 (3 GP, 0-1-1) – Made his NHL debut on Thursday for the Edmonton Oilers and earned his first point with an assist on Corey Perry’s game-winning goal 10 minutes into a 5-1 victory at the Nashville Predators.
ZACK OSTAPCHUK, 2022-23 (3 GP, 0-1-1) – Notched his first NHL point in his 2024-25 debut last Tuesday for the Ottawa Senators, logging nearly 15 minutes of ice time and an assist on Noah Gregor’s game-winning goal in an 8-1 rout of the St. Louis Blues.
AHL
CHASE WHEATCROFT, 2021-22 (8 GP, 3-6-9) – Picked up assists on two of the Texas Stars’ three goals Friday in a 5-3 loss at the Colorado Eagles.
MIKEY MILNE, 2018-22 (10 GP, 4-4-8) – Earned points in both Iowa Wild home games last weekend against the San Jose Barracuda, with a goal and an assist in Saturday’s 4-1 win before scoring the eventual game-winner in Sunday afternoon’s 5-2 victory.
MATTHEW SAVOIE, 2019-24 (8 GP, 2-3-5) – Scored a pivotal third-period goal Friday in the Bakersfield Condors’ 5-3 win over the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
LUKE PHILP, 2015-17 (4 GP, 1-2-3) – Had an assist and participated in the shootout Sunday in the Hershey Bears’ 4-3 win over the Charlotte Checkers.
DAWSON BARTEAUX, 2019-20 (8 GP, 0-2-2) – Picked up his first two assists of the year for the Manitoba Moose in Friday’s 4-2 home loss to the Milwaukee Admirals.
ECHL
OWEN PEDERSON, 2018-23 (7 GP, 1-4-5) – Scored a power play goal late in the Maine Mariners’ 3-0 shutout of the Reading Royals on Saturday.
BRILEY WOOD, 2022-24 (5 GP, 1-3-4) – Earned points in a pair of Utah Grizzlies home games against the Allen Americans this past weekend – his two-point game in Friday’s 5-1 victory included his first professional goal, and he added a third-period assist in Saturday’s 6-4 loss to Allen.
NOLAN ORZECK, 2017-22 (5 GP, 0-3-3) – Had two assists Saturday for the Allen Americans in a 6-4 win over the Utah Grizzlies.
BRETT DAVIS, 2016-19 (7 GP, 1-1-2) – Posted a second-period assist Saturday for the Rapid City Rush in a 3-2 loss to the Wichita Thunder.
GRAHAM SWARD, 2022-24 (6 GP, 0-2-2) – Registered an assist Sunday in the Norfolk Admirals’ 4-2 home win over the Worcester Railers.
Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news in American pro hockey this week:
NIC DOWD, 2008-09 (11 GP, 4-2-6) – Had points in three of four Washington Capitals games last week, starting with an empty-net goal to ice a 5-3 win Tuesday over the New York Rangers. His goal 15 minutes into the first period closed out a five-goal Washington outburst in a 7-2 win Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, and his assist with 11 seconds left in the first period Sunday helped to briefly put the Caps in front in a 4-2 loss at the Carolina Hurricanes.
SAM MORTON, 2016-18/2019-20 (10 GP, 1-6-7) – Piled up four assists over two Calgary Wranglers home wins against the San Diego Gulls, with one assist last Tuesday in a 5-3 decision. The other three all came Thursday in a 6-2 victory.
DEVIN COOLEY, 2016-17 (6 GP, 5-1-0) – Grabbed his sixth straight win for the Calgary Wranglers, making 42 saves on Tuesday in a 5-3 home win over the San Diego Gulls.
KYLE MAYHEW, 2016-17 (6 GP, 3-6-9) – Has points in all six games this season for the Fort Wayne Komets, with a pair of assists in both Friday and Saturday’s games at the Kansas City Mavericks. Friday’s result was a 4-1 Komets victory, while Fort Wayne needed a shootout to prevail by a 4-3 score in Saturday’s game.
JACQUES BOUQUOT, 2018-19 (5 GP, 1-5-6) – Had assists in three of four Reading Royals road games this past week, starting with a second-period loss Wednesday in a 4-2 loss at the Trois-Rivieres Lions, followed by a helper on a first-period marker the next night in a 3-2 loss. His final assist of the weekend came on a goal with less than three minutes to go Sunday in a 5-3 defeat at the Maine Mariners.
TROY LOGGINS, 2013-14 (5 GP, 2-1-3) – Posted a pair of points in three Tahoe Knight Monsters home games against the Idaho Steelheads, starting with a second-period goal in Thursday’s 3-1 win. His goal Saturday opened the scoring in a 4-2 Knight Monsters victory.
BRYAN YOON, 2015-16 (3 GP, 1-2-3) – Closed a four-game point streak Friday with an assist in the Utah Grizzlies’ 5-1 win over the Allen Americans.
CHARLIE COMBS, 2015-17 (6 GP, 2-1-3) – Helped to set up Tyler Weiss’s overtime winner with 53 seconds left in Sunday’s 2-1 South Carolina Stingrays win over the Atlanta Gladiators.
MARKO REIFENBERGER (3 GP, 1-2-3) – Notched points in two Norfolk Admirals home games last week against the Worcester Railers, opening the scoring Friday in a 6-5 overtime loss, and ending the weekend with an assist with eight seconds left in a 4-2 win on Sunday.
MICHAEL BULLION, 2014-15 (3 GP, 2-1-0) – Gutted out a 6-5 overtime win Friday for the Worcester Railers, making 43 saves.
SETH EISELE, 2017-18 (3 GP, 2-0-1) – Followed a shutout in his pro debut with another shutout Friday, making 27 stops in the South Carolina Stingrays’ 3-0 win over the Florida Everblades. He allowed four goals on 28 shots the following night and was tagged with the overtime loss in a 4-3 finish.
