WENATCHEE, Wash. – The Wenatchee Wild were excited to make their mark on the Western Hockey League in their first year on the circuit, and the team is proud to reveal a new high-water mark when it comes to charitable contributions to the Wenatchee Valley. The Wild are privileged to announce contributions of more than $300,000 to various causes and events in north-central Washington during and immediately after the 2023-24 season, eclipsing the team’s 2022-23 mark by more than $86,000.
The organization commits each year to giving back to Wenatchee and surrounding communities, and continues to enjoy success in that pursuit after 16 years on the ice. $46,566 was raised in-house on game nights through the team’s Chuck-a-Puck promotion, benefiting more than 35 groups across the area from the Wenatchee Figure Skating Club and Wenatchee FC youth soccer teams, to the Eastmont Secretaries’ Association and the Dubstep Dance Studio of Ellensburg.
Each season, the Wild also celebrate jersey auction nights, wearing special uniforms that are auctioned off during and after the game with proceeds donated to local causes – the team’s 2023-24 jersey auctions to benefit the NCW Guns & Hoses Foundation, the EASE Cancer Foundation in Cashmere and the Brave Warrior Project raised more than $60,000 for these organizations. Ticket donations from the past season totaled $115,600, while the team was also able to contribute more than $6,000 to Okandogs, St. Paul’s Lutheran School and many other area organizations as part of its fundraising ticket program.
Many of the team’s contributions were made possible through the support of other organizations, including more than $20,000 contributed to the team’s share of the WHL Scholarship Fund thanks to 50/50 proceeds from the Wenatchee Wild Hockey Booster Club. 11 area businesses contributed nearly $28,000 to help the team provide free kids’ tickets to select home games during the season, while Microsoft was also proud to partner with the Wild on a $3,500 donation to the Bluebridge Alliance, helping area police meet immediate financial needs in the Wenatchee and East Wenatchee communities. Gesa Credit Union partnered with the team to contribute $5,000 to area schools during the team’s Dash 4 Ca$h promotion, benefiting 10 schools in six different districts across the Wenatchee Valley, ranging from Cashmere Middle School’s parent-teacher organization to Ephrata’s PAWS parent program and the Eastmont High School band.
Wenatchee Wild players also took their time and talents into the community with regular stops at the team’s Wild About Learning partner schools, as well as the team’s annual holiday appearance at the Fred Meyer store in East Wenatchee to collect toys for the Les Schwab Community Toy Drive. Players also offered their time and talents on the ice, assisting with the Wenatchee Amateur Hockey Association’s Learn to Play, Power Skate and American Development Model programs.
After successfully setting out to “Restore the Roar” at Town Toyota Center during their 15th Anniversary season in 2022-23, the team committed to doing it again “WHL Style” this past season, and fans in the Wenatchee Valley again responded to the call in droves. In the 2023-24 season, the Wild drew 3,030 fans per game, the team’s highest per-game attendance since 2011, while the season attendance figure eclipsed 100,000 for the first time in Wenatchee history.
