A proud second-year member of the Western Hockey League, the Wenatchee Wild are continuing a celebrated WHL legacy that dates back to Edmonton, Alberta in 1996, continuing in Cranbrook, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba. These are the ICE alumni, who are now also members of the #WildFamily, making news in American pro hockey this week:
NHL
SAM REINHART, 2010-15 (36 GP, 22-23-45) – Ended his run to the holiday break with the end of a four-game point streak – however, he notched an assist Friday in a 2-1 Florida Panthers overtime win against the St. Louis Blues, helping on the game-winner with just 17 seconds left in the extra session. His two goals Sunday bookended the scoring in a 4-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
ZACH BENSON, 2020-23 (29 GP, 5-6-11) – Highlighted his 100th career NHL game Monday with a second-period goal as the Buffalo Sabres routed the New York Islanders, 7-1.
BRAYDEN McNABB, 2006-11 (34 GP, 1-3-4) – Helped the Buffalo Sabres surge to a win Saturday against the Seattle Kraken, earning an early assist in a 6-2 victory.
AHL
MATTHEW SAVOIE, 2019-24 (25 GP, 7-9-16) – Moved into the holiday break by posting a power play goal and an assist Saturday in the Bakersfield Condors’ 4-2 victory at the San Jose Barracuda.
MICHAEL MILNE, 2018-22 (22 GP, 5-8-13) – Picked up an assist by setting up Ryan Sandelin’s Teddy Bear Toss goal Friday for the Iowa Wild in a 3-2 loss to the Chicago Wolves.
LUKE PHILP, 2015-17 (18 GP, 3-6-9) – Posted two first-period assists Saturday in the Hershey Bears’ 7-3 loss to the Toronto Marlies.
ECHL
BRILEY WOOD, 2022-24 (26 GP, 8-12-20) – Saw a six-game point streak snapped, but may have started a new one by notching an assist in the first period of the Utah Grizzlies’ 6-4 win Saturday over the Tahoe Knight Monsters.
BRETT DAVIS, 2016-19 (25 GP, 8-10-18) – Scored a goal late in the first period of a 6-5 Rapid City Rush loss to the Idaho Steelheads on Friday – the Rush and Steelheads combined for six goals in the opening 20 minutes of the contest.
BEN ZLOTY, 2018-23 (12 GP, 2-14-16) – Entered the holiday break on a four-game point streak thanks to two assists Friday and a first-period goal Saturday in a pair of Norfolk Admirals home losses to the Trois-Rivieres Lions.
CAM HAUSINGER, 2017-19 (19 GP, 8-5-13) – Picked up his first ECHL hat trick in three years on Saturday, scoring three straight Indy Fuel goals in a 5-2 win against the Fort Wayne Komets.
OWEN PEDERSON, 2018-23 (13 GP, 4-4-8) – Ended the run to the holiday break with two goals Sunday in an 8-5 Maine Mariners win at the Worcester Railers. His second goal early in the third period stood up as the game-winner.
EASTON ARMSTRONG, 2022-24 (24 GP, 2-6-8) – Provided one of only a few highlights Saturday for the Atlanta Gladiators, with an assist in a 7-2 loss to the Jacksonville IceMen.
NOLAN ORZECK, 2017-22 (18 GP, 1-4-5) – Touched off a four-goal Allen Americans outburst with a goal late in the second period of Allen’s 4-2 win at the Wichita Thunder.
JON MARTIN, 2011-16 (8 GP, 0-3-3) – Tallied an assist Friday in a 5-2 Kalamazoo Wings loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Also on Wenatchee’s alumni list are the standouts from its Junior A era (2008-2023) – these players laid the foundation for the WHL’s future success in the Wenatchee Valley. These are Wenatchee’s Junior A alumni who are making news in American pro hockey this week:
DEVIN COOLEY, 2016-17 (15-5-0, 1.89) – Split a pair of home decisions for the Calgary Wranglers going to the holidays, making 27 saves Friday in a 5-3 win against the Henderson Silver Knights, but taking the loss Sunday in a 3-0 shutout loss despite stopping 35 Silver Knights chances.
BRENDAN HARRIS, 2013-17 (16 GP, 7-9-16) – Piled up a goal and two assists for the Jacksonville IceMen Saturday in a 7-2 win over the Atlanta Gladiators to close out the pre-holiday portion of the schedule.
DAKOTA RAABE, 2014-17 (20 GP, 7-6-13) – Scored goals in back-to-back games for the Iowa Heartlanders to move into the holidays, with both coming against the Bloomington Bison – Friday’s goal cut into a sizable first-period lead in a 5-2 loss, while Saturday’s helped build a sizable lead for the Heartlanders in a 6-1 home win.
BRYAN YOON, 2015-16 (13 GP, 4-6-10) – Headed to the holidays with back-to-back multi-point games for the Utah Grizzlies – he picked up two assists Friday in a 6-3 win against the Tahoe Knight Monsters, but did it one better the following night with a third-period game-winner and an assist in a 6-4 victory against Tahoe.
SETH EISELE, 2017-18 (7-3-1, 2.14) – Split back-to-back South Carolina Stingrays road decisions going to the break, turning away 21 Florida Everblades shots in a 4-1 win Friday before stopping only 15 Orlando Solar Bears shots Saturday in a 5-0 defeat.
MICHAEL BULLION, 2014-15 (4-8-1, 3.80) – Made 34 saves Sunday, but took the loss as the Worcester Railers fell 8-5 against the Maine Mariners.
