TIGERS BEAT HURRICANES 2-1
The Tigers travelled to Lethbridge on Tuesday to take on the Hurricanes for the fifth time this season. Coming into the game the Tigers lead the season series 3-1-0-0.
It took nearly a full period but the Hurricanes opened the scoring with a late power play goal. With only three seconds remaining Macoy Erkamps let a wrist shot go from the point and netted his fifth of the season. Riley Sheen and Brady Ramsay picked up the assists on the goal.
The Tigers tied the game early in the second and then took their first lead of the game 17 seconds later. Cole Sanford scored his team leading 20th goal of the season at the 5:12 mark of the period while the Tigers had the man advantage. Sanford got the easy tap in at the side of the net off some great passing from Trevor Cox and Tommy Vannelli. The go ahead goal was very similar in the set-up with Curtis Valk being the recipient this time. Valk tied Sanford for the team lead in goals with his 20th. Sanford and Cox played the role of the set-up men on the go ahead goal.
Despite the continued offensive pressure from the Tigers in the third period neither team was able to find the back of the net. The game ended in a low scoring 2-1 Tigers victory despite the shots being 42-14 in the Tigers favor.
Marek Langhamer picked up his 10th win of the season making 13 saves on 14 shots. Jonny Hogue was in net for the Hurricanes and picked up the second star making 40 saves on 42 shots.
The Tigers went 1 for 6 on the power play and killed off 2 of 3 Hurricanes’ power play chances.
