Medicine Hat, AB – The ATB Financial Player of the Week for the week ending December 17th, is winger Cole Sanford

The Tigers played 4 games over the past week and half and Cole Sanford has dominated in every one. On the 9th of December the boys finished off their US road trip in Kootenay to face the Ice, Tigers came away with a gutsy effort in Cranbrook and also the 2 points. Returning home was nice for the boys but having to encounter the WHL’s best team, Kelowna Rockets, was a task but the Tigers played well and could’ve scored multiple goals but fell short on Teddy Bear Toss night 4-2. On another back to back night it was Prince Albert in town to take on the home town team. The Tigers wanted to have a solid bounce back game and ended up putting 7 goals on the Raiders in a 7-4 victory. Finally, the 17th brough the Kamloops Blazers to town, the Tigers continued their scoring, adding another 7 goals in the victory to finish the week 3-1-0-0.

This is Sanford’s third ATB Financial Player of the Week honour of the 2014-2015 season. Last year, Cole was awarded four player of the week honor last season.

Cole has been on fire as of late, along with teammate Trevor Cox. The winger is currently riding a 5 game point streak, collecting 13 points in that span including back to back multi-point nights to finish the week. Cole has 9 points in his past two games and sits 3rd in the WHL scoring race.
