LANGHAMER NAMED ATB FINANCIAL PLAYER OF THE SERIES
The ATB Financial Tiger of the Series for Round One is goaltender Marek Langhamer.
Langhamer and the Tigers defeated the Swift Current Broncos 4-2 in the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals. Langhamer was phenomenal in net allowing 10 goals against (1.64 GAA) on 222 shots (.955 Save %) over the six game series. He led all goaltenders in Round 1 in both GAA and Save %.
The Tigers opened the series with back to back wins over the Broncos on home ice. Langhamer held Swift Current to three goals on 62 shots in the opening games in Medicine Hat.
The series then swung back to Swift Current where the Broncos won back to back games to tie the series at two games apiece. Langhamer kept his team in both games allowing only two goals against on 38 shots in Game 3 and three goals against on 45 shots in Game 4.
Returning home for Game 5, Langhamer may have had his best game of the series shutting the door on 38 of 39 shots in a 4-1 victory to take a 3-2 series lead.
Langhamer followed that up with another fantastic game to break the trend of home team victories as the Tigers beat the Broncos 2-1 to clinch a 4-2 series victory. He allowed only a single goal against on 31 shots for his fourth victory of the playoffs.
Honourable mention goes to Trevor Cox who lead the team in points (10), assists (7), plus/minus (+8) and penalty minutes (10) in Round 1.
