INVITE PUMPS UP SHINKARUK
When the disappointment of not making the Vancouver Canucks subsided, Hunter Shinkaruk said getting the chance to make Canada’s world junior team quickly crossed his mind.
“It was kind of the first thing I thought about,” said Shinkaruk. “I was very excited.
“It is a good opportunity for me. I didn’t make it last year. I want to be able to have a chance to make it this year.”
The captain of the Medicine Hat Tigers was one of 25 players invited on Monday to the main selection camp for Canada’s world junior team, which runs Dec. 12 to 15 in Etobicoke, Ont. Shinkaruk was one of the final cuts from making last year’s squad.
The road the Calgary product has taken to getting to this year’s camp has been more of a challenging one on the injury front.
