VS BRANDON: This is the fifth of six meetings this season between the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Medicine Hat Tigers. The Tigers are 1-3-0-0 vs the Wheat Kings this season, with the Tigers having won the most recent match-up in overtime by a 4-3 margin. LAST GAME: The Tigers took on the Edmonton Oil Kings at Co-op Place last Saturday. The Tigers were able to take a 3-1 lead in the game, but the high powered Oil Kings out lasted the young Tabbies squad and came away with a hard fought 5-3 victory. Dru Krebs had the first multi-goal game of his career notching his third and fourth goals of the campaign, while rookie Steven Arp tickled the twice to get his second goal of the season. Beckett Langkow made 30 saves in his 19th appearance of the 2021-22 season.
MILESTONES: Tigers Captain Daniel Baker played in his 200th career WHL game on January 21st in Saskatoon. Owen MacNeil appeared in his 100th career WHL game vs the Prince Albert Raiders the following night. Rhett Parsons, Oren Shtrom, Oasiz Wiesblatt, Tyler MacKenzie, Pavel Bocharov, Teague Patton and Brayden Boehm, Ashton Ferster and Reid Andresen have each recently played in their 50th career games.
PLAYER TO WATCH: DRU KREBS had his first career multi-goal game on Saturday vs the Oil Kings, giving the Washington Capitals prospect a career high four goals on the season. Krebs, a native of Okotoks, AB is a leader for the Tigers on and off the ice. The 18-year-old defenceman has seven career goals to go with 28 assists in 118 games. Krebs is a very smart defender that is also capable of starting the rush, or finding a winger on a seam pass to create chances.
