GAME 72: TIGERS VS LETHBRIDGE HURRICANES
VS LETHBRIDGE: This is the eighth and final meeting between these two Central Division rivals. This season Medicine Hat has posted a 4-3-0-0 record versus the Hurricanes (3-0-0-0 at home and 1-3-0-0 in Lethbridge). Curtis Valk (6G, 6A) leads the Tigers with 12 points over the previous seven games. Goaltenders Marek Langhamer (1-2-0-0), Dawson MacAuley (1-0-0-0) and Cam Lanigan (2-1-0-0) have split the games in net. Langhamer has started three games and came in relief once allowing 14 goals (3.96 GAA) on 125 shots (.888 Save %). MacAuley won in the Tigers’ home opener allowing one goal (1.00 GAA) on 24 shots (.958 Save %). Lanigan has also started a pair of games allowing 12 goals (4.62 GAA) on 102 shots (.882 Save %). On the power play the Tigers have gone 10 for 42 (23.8%), while killing off 30 of 36 Hurricanes’ opportunities (83.3%).

MILESTONES: Hunter Shinakruk recorded his 200th career point earlier in February and is now quickly approaching another major milestone, 100 career goals. In 192 career games, Shinkaruk has scored 99 goals and assisted on 117 others for 216 points. Curtis Valk also recently hit a career milestone recording his 150th career point. In 197 WHL games, Valk has scored 76 goals and added 84 assists for 160 points. The home town star has been lighting up the league this year with a team high 88 points (44G, 44A) in 70 games. Two of the Tigers’ 20 years olds are also approaching major milestones. Elgin Pearce is only two points away from 150 in his career (65G, 83A in 253 GP) and Derek Ryckman is closing in on 50 career points (9G, 37A in 288 GP).
STREAKS: Boston Leier, Dylan Bredo, Jacob Doty and Trevor Cox are the Tigers’ iron men this season. The four players are the only Tigers that have played in all 71 games for the Tigers this season. Bredo hasn’t been scratched or missed a regular season game due to injury since his rookie season in 2009-2010. Hunter Shinkaruk (4G, 6A) has been on a roll lately recording points in six straight games.
ATB PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Boston Leier was named the ATB Tiger of the Week for the week ending March 10th. It is his third player of the week honour of the season. Boston scored twice, added an assist and had a -1 rating in two games. Over the week the Tigers went 1-1-0-0.
