GAME 62: TIGERS @ SWIFT CURRENT BRONCOS
VS SWIFT CURRENT: This is the third of four meetings this season between the Tigers and Broncos. Medicine Hat has posted a 1-1-0-0 record versus the Broncos (1-0-0-0 at home and 0-1-0-0 in Swift Current). Forward Trevor Cox (1G, 4A) led the Tigers with five points in the two previous meetings. Cam Lanigan (0-1-0-0) and Marek Langhamer (1-0-0-0) have each started a game in net against the Broncos. Lanigan allowed five goals against (5.05 GAA) on 26 shots (.808 Save %) in his start. MILESTONES: Hunter Shinakruk recorded his 200th career point a couple of games ago. He is also quickly approaching another major milestone, 100 career goals. In 182 career games, Shinkaruk has scored 95 goals and assisted on 109 others for 204 points. Curtis Valk is quickly coming up on 150 career points. He’s tearing up the league this year with 77 points (37G, 40A) in 60 games and now has 149 career points (69G, 80A) in 187 regular season games. Trevor Cox recently hit a scoring milestone early in his career. Cox recently tallied his 50th point and now has 26 goals and 26 assists over 118 WHL games. Cam Lanigan also hit a major goaltending milestone a few games ago. He recorded his 50th career win against the Moose Jaw Warriors on Feb. 8th and now has a career record of 53-63-3-6 over five seasons.
STREAKS: Hunter Shinkaruk (7G, 9A) has been playing great hockey lately having collected points in each of his past 11 games. Elgin Pearce has been the model of consistency having been held off the scoresheet only four times in the last 25 games. Over that period he’s scored 15 goals and assisted on 16 others.
ATB PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hunter Shinkaruk was named the ATB Tiger of the Week for the week ending February 17th. It was his third player of the week honour of the season. Shinkaruk collected two goals, five assists and had a +2 rating in the four games during the week.
