GAME 51: TIGERS @ SPOKANE CHIEFS
VS SPOKANE: This is the first and only meeting this season between the Tigers and Chiefs. Last season, the Tigers lost the lone meeting 6-3 in Medicine Hat. Emerson Etem (1G,2A) led the Tigers with three points in the game. Tyler Bunz (0-1-0-0) got the start in net allowing five goals against (5.01 GAA) on 35 shots (.857 Save %). On the power play the Tigers went 1 for 4 (25.0%), while killing off 2 of 4 Chiefs’ opportunities (50.0%).

MILESTONES: Hunter Shinkaruk recorded his 100th assist against the Vancouver Giants on Jan 8th. He is also approaching two other major milestones, 100 goals and 200 points. In 174 career games, Shinarkuk has scored 90 goals and assisted on 101 others for 191 points. Dylan Bredo, Boston Leier and Logan McVeigh all recently recorded their 50th career assists. Bredo hit the mark in his 233rd game, McVeigh took 173 games to reach the mark and Leier reached 50 in only 168 career games. Cam Lanigan is quickly approaching a major goaltending milestone. Lanigan needs only two more wins to reach 50 for his career.
STREAKS: After seeing his 10 game points streak come to an end, Elgin Pearce (3G, 3A) has gone on to start a new streak though having collected points in five straight games since the shutout loss against Edmonton. Hunter Shinkaruk (2G, 1A) and Curtis Valk (2G, 3A) have also been playing great hockey lately having collected points in each of their past three games.

ATB PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Cam Lanigan was named the ATB Tiger of the Week for the week ending January 20th. It was his first player of the week honour of the season. Lanigan made 28 saves in a 2-1 win against the Edmonton Oil Kings and shutout the Red Deer Rebels 3-0 making 26 saves. Lanigan’s play has also earned him the CHL Goalie of the Week award.
