GAME 34: TIGERS VS KELOWNA ROCKETS
VS KELOWNA: This is the second and final meeting this season between the Tigers and Rockets. In the previous game, the Tigers defeated the Rockets 4-3 in a shootout at the Arena. Curtis Valk (2G, 0A) led the Tigers with two points in the win. Goaltender Cam Lanigan (1-0-0-0) allowed three goals against (2.77 GAA) on 58 shots (.924 Save %) in the game. On the power play the Tigers went 1 for 3 (33.3%), while killing off 6 of 7 Rockets opportunities (85.7%).

MILESTONES: Curtis Valk scored twice against Red Deer on November 30 to bring his career total up to 50. In 159 career games, Valk has recorded 52 goals and 64 assists for 116 points. Elgin Pearce is also creeping up on 50 career goals. Over 215 career games he’s scored 47 times and added 60 assists for 107 points. Hunter Shinkaruk and Dylan Bredo are approaching milestones for career assists. Shinkaruk (158 games) is six away from 100 and Bredo (230 games) is a pair away from 50 in his career.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Miles Koules was named the ATB Tiger of the Week for the week ending December 9th. It was his first player of the week honour of the season. Koules scored once, assisted on three others and had a +1 rating in two games.
HONOURS: Tigers Captain Hunter Shinkaruk was selected for the CHL Top Prospect game and will be an Assistant Captain on Team Orr. Shinkaruk was also ranked second amongst WHL skaters in the preliminary rankings for the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Defenseman Spenser Jensen joined his teammate in the rankings coming in at the 25th spot.
MOVEMBER: The Tigers were busy raising money for prostate cancer throughout Movember. The Tigers set their goals high and hoped to raise $15,000 over the month. Boston Leier, Curtis Valk, Elgin Pearce, Derek Ryckman, Marek Langhamer and Cam Lanigan all pledged to shave their hair if the goal was met. They are all now sporting the same hair style as the team flew past the goal raising $17,276 for the great cause.
