EXHIBITION GAME SUSPENDED DUE TO POOR CONDITIONS
Medicine Hat, AB – Last night’s exhibition game between the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Swift Current Broncos was suspended after the first period of play due to poor playing conditions at the Kinplex in Medicine Hat.
Wet and humid conditions over the past number of days in Medicine Hat had caused fog to build up in the Kinplex arena. At one point in the first period, play was stopped and both teams skated to help lift the fog. However, it was determined unsafe for the players to continue after the first period and the game was suspended.
Fans wanting a refund can bring their ticket stub to the Tiger’s office starting tomorrow morning.
“Player safety is paramount in our league and it was the right decision to call the game off,” stated Tigers’ senior director, marketing and public relations Dave Andjelic.
“The officials were not able to clearly see the entire length of the ice at some points during play. The players were also having issue with keeping fog off their visors.”
“We apologize to the fans that came out to watch the game but player safety comes first. Refunds will be available to fans who bring their ticket stubs to our office in The Arena beginning Monday.”
The Tigers next exhibition action takes place on Wednesday, September 11th against the Lethbridge Hurricanes in Lethbridge.
Season ticket holders are reminded tickets are available for pick up at the Tigers office in The Arena. Picture ID is required for pick up.
