Edmonton Selects Shayne Neigum From Tigers in Expansion Draft
Medicine Hat, AB – The WHL conducted the expansion draft for the Edmonton Oil Kings today who will commence their inaugural season on September 20, 2007.
The Oil Kings selected 17-year-old forward Shayne Neigum from the Medicine Hat Tigers. Neigum from Kindersley, SK appeared in 4 games for the Tigers this year. He was originally selected by Medicine Hat in the 2005 Bantam Draft in the 4th round, 78th overall. He spent the majority of the 2006-07 with the Swift Current AAA Midget Legionnaires playing 39 games while collecting 23 goals and 33 assists for 56 points and accumulating 195 penalty minutes. Shayne is the cousin of graduating Tiger Derek Dorsett.
"We are disappointed in losing a prospect of Shayne's caliber," stated Tigers' general manager / head coach Willie Desjardins."
