BOSTON LEIER NAMED ATB FINANCIAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Medicine Hat, AB – The ATB Financial Tiger of the Week for the week ending March 10, 2013 is forward Boston Leier.
This is Leier’s third ATB Financial Tiger of the Week honour of the 2012-2013 season. Over the past week, Leier scored twice, assisted on another and had a -1 rating in two games. Over the week the Tigers went 1-1-0-0.
The Tigers started the week off with a visit to Saskatoon to take on the Blades. Leier had a strong game in his hometown in front of family and friends. He scored twice to set a new career high with 17 goals. Unfortunately for the Tigers that was about the only good thing to come out of the game as the Blades won 6-3.
The following night the Tigers traveled to Prince Albert with a chance to lock up a playoff spot. The Raiders scored 25 seconds into the game to take an early lead but the Tigers would battle back to win 2-1 in overtime. Leier would pick up his 50th point of the season with an assist on Elgin Pearce’s second period goal. It marks the first time that Leier has hit the 50 point plateau in his WHL career. The win gave the Tigers a spot in the playoffs for the 11th straight season.
At the end of the week, Leier sat 4th in Tigers’ scoring with 50 points (17G, 33A).
