Blades Spoil Tigers Comeback
Saskatoon, SK – A goal in the final seconds of regulation lifted the Saskatoon Blades to a 5-4 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday night.
Travis Toomey notched his second goal of the game with only three seconds remaining in the third period on the power play.
Colton Gillies – with a goal and an assist – John Flatters and Chris Durand also scored for the Blades (25-34-3-4), who have won seven of their last 10 games, while Ondrej Fiala chipped in three assists. Braden Holtby made 29 saves to claim the victory. The win keeps the Blades in ninth place in the Eastern Conference.
Tyler Ennis and Mark Isherwood each netted a goal and an assist for the Tigers (37-21-5-2), who rallied from a 4-1 deficit only to fall in the dying second of the contest, while Bretton Cameron and Sean Ringrose also scored.
Tomas Vosvrda and Ryan Holfeld combined for 18 saves in the defeat. The loss keeps the Tigers two points behind Kootenay for fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
