TIGERS WRAP UP REGULAR SEASON
Medicine Hat, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers fell 3-2 to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in their final game of the regular season.
Early in the game, while the Tigers were on their first power play of the night, Ryan Jevne and Cole Clayton combined to set Brett Kemp up to open the scoring. Kemp’s goal was his 33rd of the season.
Late in the frame, Hurricanes’ Nick Henry scored to send the two Highway 3 rivals to the dressing room tied 1-1 after 20 minutes of play.
Henry scored his second of the night early into the middle period before Jake Elmer scored shorthanded to make it 3-1 for the Hurricanes.
The Tigers continued to battle with the Hurricanes and Ryan Chyzowski set Jevne up to score his 32nd goal of the season late in the game. The Tabbies continued to press in the final frame but were unable to find a game-tying goal.
Jordan Hollett made 29 saves on 32 shots while Thomson stopped 29 of the Tigers’ 31 shots.
The Orange and Black finished the regular season with a 35-27-4-2 record and they will battle the Edmonton Oil Kings in the first round of the playoffs. Season ticket holders can start to pick up their tickets for playoffs on Monday, March 18th at 9 AM. Tickets will also go on sale to the general public at that time.
