TIGERS SIGN KACHKOWSKI TO WHL SCHOLARSHIP & DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT
Medicine Hat, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers are proud to announce the signing of defenceman Jack Kachkowski (St.Albert, AB) to a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement Wednesday, December 7.
Kachkowski, 16, was drafted by the Tigers in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft in the 5th round, 89th overall. Kachkowski played his minor hockey with the U18 AAA St. Albert Raiders in the 2022-2023 AEHL season. Accumulating 18 points (5 goals, 13 assists) in 33 games.
Jack did suit up for Team Alberta at the 2023 Canada Winter Games alongside now teammates Kadon McCann, Hayden Harsanyi, Matt Paranych and Tigers prospect Jordan Switzer. Where he scored a goal in five games with Team Alberta.
Kachkowski says he is ready for his first game as a Tiger.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to play at the highest level,” he says. “The WHL is the highest I can play at the moment, at the end of the day I decided that I wanted to become a Medicine Hat Tiger. It’s going to be unreal to play at Rogers Place for my first game and I can’t wait to get going.”
Tigers Head Coach Willie Desjardins says the team is looking forward into adding Kachkowski’s talents to the roster.
“Jack is a high end player and we wanted to sign him out of training camp,” he says. “We’ve got a really good group of young players and Jack is a perfect fit.
Kachkowski started the 2023-2024 season with the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, playing in 12 games and scoring one goal & two assists.
He will make his Tigers debut Saturday in Edmonton against the Oil Kings, just a handful of kilometres away from his home of St.Albert.
The Tigers will begin their home-at-home series with Edmonton on Friday, December 8 at Co-op Place. You can get your tickets for that game HERE.
