TIGERS FINISH ROAD TRIP
The Medicine Hat Tigers were in Winnipeg on Sunday to complete their postponed Manitoba road trip and it would also be the final road game of the season for the Orange and Black. Beckett Langkow earned his second start this weekend, while Daniel Hauser got the start again for the ICE.
Winnipeg came out of the gates flying when Benjamin Zloty put home his seventh goal of the campaign, converting the pass from behind the net from Mikey Milne to make it 1-0 ICE. Five minutes later, Mikey Milne would get his second point of the period and 36th goal of the season when he got in behind the Tigers defenders and beat Langkow high to the blocker side to make it 2-0. Shots after 20 minutes 13-8 in favour of the ICE.
Conor Geekie kicked off a wild second period after taking a nice pass from Mikey Milne he showed some great patience and put the backhand past Langkow to make it 3-0.
The Tabbies would respond less than two minutes later when Tyler MacKenzie bagged his fourth goal of the season as he came in late trailing the play, takes the Noah Danielson pass and banks the puck off the ICE defender to bring the Tigers to within two. Noah Danielson continued the comeback effort for the Tigers, finding himself alone in the slot, he wired the Oasiz Wiesblatt pass through Hauser to bring the Tigers to within one.
Winnipeg would put their foot to the floor and take command of the game following the Danielson goal. Matthew Savoie scored his 33rd and 34th goals of the season, Connor McClennon notched his 41st and 42nd of the season and Ben Zloty added his second of the game to stake the ICE to a 8-2 victory.
Langkow stopped 25 of 33 shots sent his direction, and Daniel Hauser made 24 of 26 saves to earn the victory for ICE.
The Tigers return to action on Friday for their final game of the season when the Edmonton Oil Kings pay a visit to Co-op Place.
