SHAW AND RUBINS RANKED IN NHL MIDTERM RANKINGS
Medicine Hat, AB — The National Hockey League in association with their NHL Central Scouting have released their midterm rankings on Wednesday morning and two Tigers skaters have made the list heading down the stretch to the playoffs. Central Scouting releases rankings of the top North American and International skaters and goaltenders Wednesday. The 2017 draft will be held at United Center in Chicago on June 23-24.
On the list for Medicine Hat is Mason Shaw and Kristians Rubins. Shaw, in his 3rd season as a Tiger has had a career year so far. Putting up 63 points in 43 games this season. At one point in the year Shaw was leading the entire Canadian Hockey League in assists and currently sits second in that category with 49. Shaw is also one of the few players to currently have a point per game or more rating for their career. In his Tiger career Shaw has played 134 games and has 134 points to his name, with his next assist being his 100th.
Rubins on the other hand is a new Tiger. Drafted in the 1st Round of the CHL Import Draft this past June, Rubins has made a big impact to the Tigers blue line. Standing in a 6’5 and 216lbs, Rubins is a physical force and great puck mover. Unfortunately for Rubins he missed some time due to an injury and the World Juniors where he played for the final time at the Championships for his home country of Latvia. In 30 games this season Rubins has 14 points including 2 goals, but is more noticed for his skating and play making abilities.
Shaw is ranked 63rd among North American skaters.
Rubins is ranked 167th among North American skaters.
The Tigers would like to congratulate both players on their rankings and look forward to a great stretch run to the playoffs!
