McKenna sets Canadian Record in Semi Final Win over Sweden
Espoo, FIN – Gavin McKenna stands alone in Canadian hockey history at the World U18’s in Finland during Canada’s victory over Sweden in the Semi-Finals this morning 5-4.
McKenna made history on Canada’s second goal of the 1st period as he’d pass Tyson Jost & Macklin Celebrini for the most points scored by a Canadian skater with 16 points. (six goals, 10 assists).

Canada got out to a 4-0 lead after the first, thanks to goals from Liam Greentree, McKenna, Tij Iginla & Ryder Ritchie.
Henry Mews would push the Canadians lead to 5-2 after 40 minutes of play. Sweden would make it a two-goal game at 7:58.Hugo Orrsten would make it 5-4 at 14:19 but Canadian goaltender Carter George stood tall the rest of the way. Booking Canada’s ticket to the finals.
Also named a top player of the U18’s McKenna, Canada’s captain Porter Martone & Cater George took home the honours.
McKenna & Team Canada are off to the Gold Medal game Sunday morning against the United States, game time is set for 9 AM / MT and can be watched on TSN.
