Medicine Hat, AB – The ATB Financial Player of the Week for the past 2 weeks ending March 1st and March 7th is goaltender Marek Langhamer.

The Tigers played 6 games over the past two weeks going 4-2-0-0 over that span. The first week saw three games played against on the road playing 3 opponents from the East Division, including Brandon, Regina and Swift Current. The Tigers had a rough start in Manitoba, losing 5-0 against the East leading Wheaties. However the Tabbies bounced back the following two games, winning 2-1 and 5-1 respectively.

The second week saw another 3 games in a stretch of 3 games in 5 nights. First was a test against the trailing Red Deer Rebels. Langhamer and the Tigers would blank their opponents on the night, with the 20 year old goaltender recording his first shutout of the season. The following night in Moose Jaw, the Tabbies couldn’t find the scoresheet despite many chance as the Warriors defeated Medicine Hat 3-0. The boys bounced back on Saturday night back at home as the Kootenay Ice came to town. Langhamer was once again dominant and the Tigers sent waves and waves of pressure, but only could muster 1 goal in a 1-0 victory.

This is Langhamer’s second and third ATB Financial Player of the Week honours of the 2014-2015 season for the Tigers.

Langhamer had a rough start to his first week’s award, allowing 5 goals in Brandon, but since then Langhamer has been brilliant only allowing 4 goals in his past 4 games, including 2 shut outs. Those two shut outs came in the last week against Kootenay and Red Deer, stopping all 40 shots his way.
