TIGERS FALL TO WHEAT KINGS
The Medicine Hat Tiger were in Brandon for the sixth and final game of the season against the Wheat Kings. Beckett Langkow got the start for the Tigers, while Carson Bjarnason got the start for the Wheat Kings.
Brandon got out to the early lead when Mason Ward blasted his fifth of the season passed Langkow high glove side to make it 1-0. Nolan Ritchie and Jake Chiasson were credited with the assists on the play. Less than three minutes later Rylen Roersma teed up a Vincent Iorio pass to make it 2-0. Brandon made it three nothing just over eight minutes into the period when Chad Nychuck walked his way in from the point and beat Langkow.
The Tigers would get on the board with seven minutes remaining in the period when Reid Andresen’s wrist shot from the blue line beat Bjarnason to make it 3-1. Pasha Bocharov and Ashton Ferster assisted on the play.
Jake Chiasson made 5-1 after two periods of play on his fifth and sixth goals of the season. Beckett Langkow had to stay sharp to keep the Tigers within reach, stymying the Wheat Kings multiple times.
Oasiz Wiesblatt, who was returning to the Tigers lineup from injury brought the Tabbies back to within three after redirecting the Reid Andresen point shot. Andrew Basha received the secondary assist.
Mason Ward made it 6-2 beating Tigers netminder Beckett Langkow on the wrap-around for his second of the night and sixth of the season.
Tigers rookie Andrew Basha cut the lead in half after receiving Reid Andresen’s alley-oop pass and showing his quick hands, beat Bjarnason for his fifth of the campaign.
Make the final 6-3 Wheat Kings. Medicine Hat was 1 for 1 on the powerplay, shots on goal 31-22 Brandon.
The Tigers return to action tomorrow when the head to Winnipeg for the first half of double dip with the ICE.
