TIGERS SELECT OASIZ WIESBLATT 12TH OVERALL
Medicine Hat, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers selected Oasiz Wiesblatt in the first round, 12th overall in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.
Wiesblatt is a shifty and crafty playmaking centre who suited up for the Calgary Bisons in the AMBHL this past season. The 5’5 Calgary, AB native scored 19 goals and picked up 36 assists in 28 games for the Bisons last season. He also had a strong showing in the AMBHL All-Star game in January where he scored a hat trick in a very close game.
“We are excited to acquire Oasiz Wiesblatt in the Bantam Draft,” said Bobby Fox, Director of Player Personnel. “He is an excellent skater and a skilled forward. Oasiz is dynamic and will bring a lot of energy making him a perfect fit for our organization.”
Wiesblatt has three older brothers, including Ozzy who plays for the Prince Albert Raiders. Not only is Oasiz able to make quick adjustments at top speed and he is capable of scoring at will.
He is the Tigers’ 29th first round draft pick in franchise history since the draft began in 1990. Along with all the 2019 Bantam Draft picks, he will be invited to prospects orientation camp later this month.
