TIGERS FALL 5-2 TO RAIDERS
The Tigers hosted their Military Appreciation Night on Wednesday while taking on the Prince Albert Raiders. The game also marked the return of former Tigers Jayden Hart and Dylan Busenius to the Arena for the first time since being traded at this year’s trade deadline. Unfortunately for all the members of the Military and fans in attendance, Hart and the Raiders would spoil the party with a 5-2 win.
Elgin Pearce scored a pair of goals in the first period to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. His first goal came five minutes into the period while on the power play. Hunter Shinkaruk picked up the lone assist on the goal. Pearce picked up his second of the game and 26th overall just 1:05 left to play. Miles Koules added to his rookie point total with the assist.
The Raiders cut the lead to one in the second period. Former Tiger Jayden Hart scored his 10th of the season from Leon Draisaitl and Davis Vandane while on the power play.
The Raiders came out strong in the final period. Davis Vandane added an early goal to tie the game at two goals apiece. Prince Albert would take their first lead of the game a little over the halfway mark of the third. Anthony Bardaro scored his 20th goal of the season to put the Raiders up 3-2. The Tigers had a couple of good chances including a late power play but they weren’t able to beat Luke Siemens. With time winding down, the Tigers decided to pull Cam Lanigan to get the extra attacker out there. The move wouldn’t work out in their favor though as the Raiders would add a pair of empty netters to seal the 5-2 win. Mark McNeill put the Raiders up 4-2 with his 21st of the year and Carson Perreaux put the game away with his 11th.
Cam Lanigan got the start in net for the Tigers. Despite picking up the loss, Lanigan had a strong night in net allowing only three goals against on 37 shots. The Raiders countered with Luke Siemens in goal. Siemens picked up his 31st win in net allowing two goals against on 40 shots.
On the power play the Tigers went 1 for 5, while killing off 1 of 2 Raiders’ power play opportunities.
