CANUCKS SIGN TIGERS CAPTAIN SHINKARUK
Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks President & General Manager Michael D. Gillis announced today that the Canucks have signed Hunter Shinkaruk.
Selected 24th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Shinkaruk captained the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 2012-13 season recording 86 points (49-37-86) through 64 games played. The Calgary, Alberta native led the club in playoff scoring with six points (3-3-6) in eight games.
At the international level, Shinkaruk tallied a hat trick, including the overtime winner, to help Team Canada capture a bronze medal at the 2012 Under-18 World Championships. He also won gold at the 2011 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
