Darren joined the Silvertips as their Education Coordinator in August 2011. His responsibility is to see that all players are given the opportunity to further their education. Also that the high school age team members are enrolled at Everett High School in appropriate classes that meet their graduation requirements. This takes a considerable amount of coordinating between Everett High School, the players, the parents, and the players home high school.
He teaches sixth and seventh grade Language Arts and study skills at Lake Stevens Middle School.
He played in the WHL from 1986 through 1989 and is still actively playing hockey in the Greater Seattle Hockey League.
He is originally from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Darren and his wife, Janice, live in Lake Stevens with their son Christopher.
