Royals Sign Logan Pickford to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement
Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce the signing of Forward Logan Pickford to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The product of Saskatoon, SK., stands at 5’9” and 169 lbs.
Pickford was a part of the Royals 50 Player List entering 2023 Training Camp, where he impressed, including scoring twice and adding two assists in Team Fizer’s five games played.
Pickford spent the majority of the 2022-23 season with the U18 Prince Albert Mintos (SMAAAHL). He also spent time with the Weyburn Red Wings (SJHL) where he scored 1 goal in 3 games. The 17-year-old produced at nearly a point-per-game pace with the Mintos as he notched 25 goals and 16 assists for 41 points in 43 games played.
“Logan had a great summer of training which was reflected in his on ice and off ice fitness testing scores. ” said Associate General Manager, Jake Heisinger. “Logan is a hard working player that skates well and will contribute at both ends of the ice. We are excited to Welcome Logan and his family to Victoria.”
The Royals open the pre-season on Saturday, September 9 on the road as they take on the Prince George Cougars before closing out the weekend on Sunday, September 10 against the Vancouver Giants.
Victoria wraps up the pre-season with a pair of games in the interior as they are slated to take on the Kamloops Blazers on Friday, September 15 before traveling down Highway 97 to take on the Kelowna Rockets on Saturday, September 16.
The Royals open up the 2023-2024 WHL Regular Season on Friday, September 22 against the Vancouver Giants on the road before traveling south of the border to take on the Everett Silvertips on Saturday, September 24.
