Royals annual Christmas Toy Drive returns this Friday at SOFMC
Fresh off a two-for-two weekend against the Seattle Thunderbirds, the Royals are set to host the Prince George Cougars this Friday and Sunday to close out the homestand.
Friday, December 5th marks the Royals’ annual Christmas Toy Drive, presented by Proline Property Management in support of Santa’s Anonymous. Santas Anonymous is a local non-for-profit organization that helps over 1200 local families feel the magic of Christmas. Fans are encouraged to shop the virtual wish list and bring selected gifts to Toy Drive on Friday, December 5th. Last year, Proline’s vehicle was overflowing with donated toys, and this year we plan to do the same! All fans that donate have the option to enter for a chance to win a Royals holiday basket that will be raffled off during the game. Toys must be new in the package to be accepted.
On Sunday, December 7th the Royals will host the Prince George Cougars for the second of the two games with puck drop slated for 2:05pm. The Buy One Get One kids ticket deal will be available to purchase for Sunday’s game where families can take advantage of a free kid’s ticket with the purchase of a Club seat.
Team Matchup
Prince George (17-8-0-0) are as tough an opponent as you’ll find right now in the
Western Hockey League. Claiming victory in eight of their last ten games, the Cougars are firmly in the lead of the B.C. Division. The Royals and Cougars have met twice this season, with Prince George winning both games of the-back-to-back on home turf. This time, the Cougars will enter the Royals domain. Prince George has dominated in terms of special teams this season, currently first league-wide in both the power play and penalty kill.
Players to Watch
Victoria
Eli McKamey – The second-round pick from the 2024 WHL draft scored his first goal as a Royal on Sunday, a power play marker to widen the Royals’ lead in the second period. As the first player to receive exceptional status to play in the BCHL as a 15-year-old, the expectations for McKamey were high entering the season. With that first goal under his belt, the Vancouver Island local will look to keep that momentum rolling throughout the year.
Prince George
Joshua Ravensbergen – A first round pick of the San Jose Sharks in the 2025 NHL entry draft, Ravensbergen is the reigning WHL Goalie of the Week thanks to a 29-save shutout in Wenatchee on Friday. The 19-year-old goaltender from North Vancouver has won his last five games, stopping 143 of 150 shots over that span. Ravensbergen is a consistent barrier for any team’s offence to overcome.
