Royals Acquire 4th Round Pick in 2024 from Hitmen for Jason Spizawka
The Victoria Royals have traded 2004-born defenceman Jason Spizawka to the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. Spizawka played 65 games for the Royals during the 2022-23 season where he recorded one goal and added five assists for six points.
Spizawka was originally drafted by the Royals in the first-round of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft. Since his arrival to the organization, Spizawka suited up in 141 games between 2020 and 2023. In that time, he accumulated two goals and 16 assists for 18 points.
Prior to his time with Victoria, Spizawka was a member of the U18 AAA South Island Royals and the U15 Prep Yale Hockey Academy.
The product of Victoria was named the CSSHL U15 WHL Scholastic Player of the Year during his 2018-19 campaign with the Yale Hockey Academy.
The fourth-round draft pick that Royals acquired from the Hitmen in exchange for Spizawka originally belonged to the Prince George Cougars.
