Royals defeat Warriors 3-2 in down-to-the-wire finish
Moose Jaw, SK. – The Victoria Royals faced off with the Moose Jaw Warriors tonight for the first and only meeting between the two teams this season. The closely contested game came right down to the wire, and the Royals held strong defensively to claim two points on the road.
Victoria monopolized the offence in the first period, emphasized at 12:07 when Reggie Newman capitalized in the slot, assisted by Nolan Stewart, marking the captain’s ninth goal of the season. The Royals held the one goal lead into the first intermission.
Moose Jaw struck early in the second period, as Riley Thorpe broke in alone and tied the game at 2:53. The Warriors would later take the lead on a shot from Aiden Ziprick 11:58 into the frame, before Victoria returned fire with Henry Peterson’s second goal of the season at 14:16. The score remained tied until the end of the second period.
