DRAFT PROFILE: Will Sharpe
Kelowna, B.C. – Defenseman Will Sharpe is one of several Kelowna Rockets players eligible for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft and continues to gain recognition for his poised, two-way game and growth throughout the 2024–25 season.
The 6’1″, 194-pound blueliner from Delta, B.C., was acquired by the Rockets midway through the season in the trade that sent Caden Price to Lethbridge. In return, Kelowna received Sharpe, newly signed goaltender Harrison Boettiger, and a package of draft picks, a clear indicator of the organization’s belief in Sharpe’s potential.
In total, Sharpe finished the season with
-
35 games with Lethbridge: 3 goals, 25 assists (28 points)
-
31 games with Kelowna: 6 goals, 10 assists (16 points)
-
Season total: 66 games played, 9 goals, 35 assists, 44 points
Sharpe’s game is built around smart puck movement, mobility, and the ability to contribute offensively without sacrificing defensive positioning. His power-play presence and ability to retrieve and transition the puck have made him a valued asset in all three zones.
Sharpe enters the draft with a growing list of appearances on NHL draft boards:
-
#76 – NHL Central Scouting (North American Skaters)
-
#99 – Draft Prospects Hockey
-
#112 – Daily Faceoff
-
#118 – Recruit Scouting
-
#158 – FC Hockey
While some rankings project Sharpe as a late-round selection, others see him as a strong-value pick with room to rise. His late-season surge and increased minutes with Kelowna gave scouts more opportunity to evaluate him in high-pressure situations.
What sets Sharpe apart is his ability to make calculated plays under pressure, combined with a willingness to jump into the rush or anchor the blue line. He’s shown a high level of hockey IQ, patience, and confidence with the puck, traits NHL teams value in developing defensemen.
Sharpe will be among those watched closely on draft weekend. His game continues to trend upward as he grows into his frame and matures at the WHL level.
The 2025 NHL Entry Draft will take place June 27–28 in Los Angeles, California.
