Kelowna Rockets Select Madden Daneault First Overall in 2026 WHL Prospects Draft
KELOWNA, BC – The Kelowna Rockets have selected forward Madden Daneault with the first overall pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft.
Daneault, a product of Red Deer, Alberta, put together a remarkable 2025–26 season with the Red Deer Rebels U15 AAA program, recording 65 goals and 84 assists for 149 points in just 34 regular season games while serving as team captain.
The 5-foot-10, 168-pound forward added 22 points in nine playoff games and also appeared at the U18 AAA level with the Red Deer Chiefs.
Daneault was named to the AEHL U15 First All-Star Team for the second consecutive season while leading the league in goals, assists, and points. He was also named MVP and Top Forward at the prestigious John Reid Memorial Tournament after recording 15 points in six games.
On the provincial stage, Daneault registered 13 points in five games at the Alberta Cup representing Team Alberta Black.
“Madden is a complete 200-foot player that impacts the game in all areas of the ice,” said Kelowna Rockets Director of Player Personnel Terry McFaul. “He competes at a very high level, has elite offensive instincts, and scores at an exceptional rate. We believe he has all the tools to become a special player in our organization.”
Daneault becomes the first player selected first overall by the Rockets franchise since its inception as the Tacoma Rockets in 1991.
