Andersen scores four as Rebels defeat Warriors 5-2
RED DEER – The Red Deer Rebels ended their three-game Saskatchewan road trip on the highest note possible, defeating the Moose Jaw Warriors 5-2 led by a four-goal, five-point performance from Poul Andersen.
Andersen and Rebels captain Beckett Hamilton entered the game as two of the hottest players in the league, with Anderson coming off a two-goal performance on Friday night in Saskatoon, and Hamilton riding the high of his second three-point game of the early campaign.
In what’s become routine for Red Deer of late, they drew first blood early on as defenceman Kaden Meyer’s first goal as a Rebel gave his squad an early 1-0 lead. An assist form Andersen ran his league leading point streak to seven games.
The lead was very short-lived, however, as Warriors blueliner Brady Ness buried his first goal of season just 16 seconds later.
But roughly three minutes after that, Anderson lit the lamp for the second straight game, putting the Rebels back up by one.
It was yet another short-lived lead, unfortunately, as Moose Jaw pulled even halfway through the first frame after Luke Moroz scored his second goal of the season.
Five minutes into the second period, the Rebels would take the lead for good when Anderson put home a beautiful feed from Hamilton on the power play to give himself back-to-back two goal games.
But, that wasn’t enough for Anderson, as he registered his first Western Hockey League hat trick minutes later on a scorching one-timer set up by Paxson Madill – though there were (unsurprisngly) no hats on the ice in Moose Jaw… and he still wasn’t done there.
With just over minute left to play, Anderson tucked home a rebound into the empty Warriors net to become the first Red Deer Rebel to score four goals in a game since Ty Coupland did it back on March 2, 2025.
Not to be overlooked was Red Deer netminder Nathan Salisbury, who made 36 saves – including a number of highlight reel stops – on 38 shots to earn his second win in as many starts. His counterpart, Jordan Switzer, allowed four goals on 30 shots in a losing cause for Moose Jaw.
Red Deer was 1-for-2 on power plays while Moose Jaw was 0-for-2.
BRANDT THREE STARS:
- Poul Anderson (RD) 4 goals, 1 assist

- Beckett Hamilton (RD) 3 assists
