HOCKEY TOWN NORTH NOTES: Wednesday the Prince Albert Raiders suffered their 17th one-goal loss of the season (including shoot outs, overtime and empty net goal games) as they were edged 5-4 in Moose Jaw by the Warriors…Tuesday the Raiders were doubled 4-2 on home ice by the defending Memorial Cup Champion Vancouver Giants…The Raiders have one win in their past six starts and two victories in their past nine home outings…The Raiders record stands at 15-26-3-2 (6-15-2-1 at home, 9-12-1-1 on the road, 1-3 in overtime, 1-2 in shoot outs) for 35 points, tied for 10th in the WHL Eastern Conference, four points behind 9th place Edmonton… Wednesday in Moose Jaw the Warriors opened the scoring 42 seconds into the game with the Raiders tying the contest with just under 5 minutes left in the first and it was 1-1 after the opening period…Moose Jaw scored the lone second period goal to take a 2-1 lead after forty minutes, setting the stage for a busy third period…The Warriors built a 3-1 lead scoring on the power play just a minute and a half into the final frame…The Raiders then exploded for three goals in a span of 1:45 and took a 4-3 advantage…Moose Jaw tied the game with just over 7 minutes remaining, then scored the game winning goal, on the power play under 2 minutes later…The Warriors out shot the Raiders 37-34…When the Raiders lead after 2 periods they are 13-0-2-1, but when trailing after forty minutes are 0-21-0-1…The Raiders have 23 players on their roster including 2 twenty-year olds, 7 nineteen year-olds, 3 eighteen year-olds, 9 seventeen year-olds and 2 sixteen year-olds…The Raiders roster includes 10 first year WHL players.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Wednesday the Raiders scored on the power play for the first time in three games going ¼…On the season the Raiders have scored 35 power play goals in 201 tries (17.4% – tied for 15th best in the WHL)…On the road the Raiders have the 2nd best PP in the league (22/96=22.9%), but on home ice they are ranked #22 (13/105=12.4%)…Wednesday the Warriors scored 2 power play goals in 6 chances…On the season the Raiders have surrendered 53 power play goals against in 244 chances (78.3% – 18th in the WHL)…The Raiders have scored 3 short handed goals and surrendered eight short handed goals against.
UPCOMING GAMES: Tonight is the Raiders 12th game in the past 23 days and the third of four games in five nights to conclude their busiest part of the 07-08 season…Tomorrow night they are back in Moose Jaw to start their longest road trip of the season – 8 games…Next week the Raiders start their tour of the United States Division visiting Kootenay on Friday, on their way through to the play the United States Division teams…The Raiders next home game is Feb.9 against Edmonton.
VS. THE REBELS: This is the fifth and final between the Raiders and Rebels this season with the visiting team having won the previous four games…The Rebels have won both stops in PA 2-1 in overtime Sept.29 and 2-1 in regulation Oct.14…The Raiders won both in Red Deer 4-1 Oct.6 and 5-3 Dec.29…Last season the Raiders were 2-1-0-1 against the Rebels…In the past five seasons the Raiders are 10-13-1-3 against Red Deer including a 6-5-1-2 record in PA.

RAIDER REPORT: Nathan Deck, Ryan White, Matt Robertson and Andy Smith were the goal scorers in Moose Jaw Wednesday with assists to Justin Bernhardt (3), Ryan Button, Smith, Ashton Hewson, Jared Jagow and Devon LeBlanc…Steven Stanford suffered the loss in goal stopping 32 of 37 shots he faced…Robertson has 3 goals and 6 assists in the past four games to take over the team lead in scoring (41 pts) three ahead of Ryan McDonald…Deck has scored goals in back to back games and three of the last four…White has scored goals in two of the past three road games, his first two as a Raider…Bernhardt has picked up points (1G, 7A) in three of the past four games…It was Jagow’s first point in a Raider uniform after being acquired just before the trade deadline, along with a 3rd round bantam pick from the Regina Pats in exchange for Ryan DePape…Max Brandl is tied for 10th in the league in first goals (5) and is 2nd among rookies for power play goals (7)…Jagow and Andy Smith both hail from Rosetown…Jordan Trach suffered a concussion against Vancouver Tuesday and is out indefinitely…Wednesday’s game was the first one missed by Trach this season…Only Robertson, Deck and Hewson have appeared in all 47 games this season…Also at the trading deadline last week the Raiders dealt 20 year-old captain Jeff May to the Lethbridge Hurricanes for 15 year-old Brent Martin, 16 year-old Robbie Ciolfi and a second round draft pick…They picked up a 5th round draft pick from the Kootenay Ice in exchange for Zach Sim…With the moves 20 year-old defenseman White has been named Captain of the team with the Assistants Trach, Robertson and Hewson…Bryce Lamb has been out the past 33 games, since Oct.23…He suffered a broken wrist, which is healed, but Lamb is now out indefinitely with mononucleosis…Monday Team President Dale McFee announced the Raiders have relieved General Manager Donn Clark of his duties with the organization…Head Coach Bruno Campese will take over as the General Manager through the remainder of the 2007-08 season…Clark had been with the Raiders since the 2000-01 season, in his second term with the organization…Campese was named the 11th coach in the history of the team June 21, 2007 after being the Coach and Director of Hockey Operations of the Penticton Vees from 2004-07.
