Glass, Leason shine as Canada routs Denmark in opening game of 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship

Four-point games from Portland Winterhawks captain Cody Glass (Vegas Golden Knights) and 2019 NHL Draft prospect Brett Leason of the Prince Albert Raiders played a strong role in Canada’s 14-0 victory over Denmark to begin the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship Wednesday in Vancouver, B.C.

Glass picked up four assists while Leason scored a pair of goals and added two more helpers in the win. Alternate captain and Spokane Chiefs co-captain Jaret Anderson-Dolan (Los Angeles Kings) scored a goal while Moose Jaw Warriors captain Josh Brook (Montreal Canadiens) and Chiefs co-captain Ty Smith each picked up a single assist in the lopsided victory.

Captain Maxime Comtois scored four goals and Morgan Frost add a hat trick as part of a five-point performance in the win. Canada scored three goals in the first, five in the second, and six in the third to reach the eventual result. Michael DiPietro earned the shutout, stopping all 14 shots.

Canada’s next test comes Thursday, December 27 (6:00 p.m. MT) as they play host to Switzerland.
