Game Preview: Game 7 vs Kamloops, October 10
SETTING IT UP:
The Prince Albert Raiders (5-0-1-0) look to make it five straight wins tonight as they host the Kamloops Blazers (3-2-0-0). It’s the third game of a six game homestand for Prince Albert. For Kamloops, they begin their six game road swing through the East Division at the Art Hauser Centre. The Blazers have lost their last two contests after starting the season 3-0.
SLAYED THE GIANTS:
After losing 10-1 in Vancouver last season, the Raiders got their revenge a year later. A 6-0 shutout win over the Giants at home on Wednesday night gave Prince Albert win number four in a row.
SPECIAL TEAMS DOMINATES AGAIN:
The second period was the turning point on Wednesday night, as the Raiders took control thanks to three powerplay goals. Justice Christensen scored twice on the same five on three man advantage, while Max Heise had the third powerplay goal of the contest. On the other side, the Raiders went a perfect 2/2 on the penalty kill.
SHUTOUT #1:
In what was a relatively quiet night for Michal Orsulak between the pipes on Wednesday, he stood tall for the shots that he did face. The Czech netminder turned aside all 14 shots he faced for his first WHL shutout. Orsulak holds a 1.99 GAA, .920 SV%, and a 3-0-0-0 record in three starts this season.
SARK ATTACK:
Another Raider first occurred on Wednesday night, as Kazakhstan import Alisher Sarkenov netted his first WHL goal. Sarkenov scored the first goal of the game against the Giants, as a shot from Evan Smith hit Sarkenov in the face and went in. He also picked up an assist in the win.
LEADERSHIP:
The leadership group for the 2025-26 season has been set. Justice Christensen has been named captain for the second straight season. Aiden Oiring, Max Heise, and Daxon Rudolph were named alternates.
UP NEXT:
After Thanksgiving weekend, the Raiders continue their homestand on Friday, October 17 against the Regina Pats, and Saturday, October 18 versus the Edmonton Oil Kings.
