Game Preview: Game 59 @ Brandon
SETTING IT UP:
The Raiders begin the final month of the regular season tonight in Brandon, where they will take on the Wheat Kings for the fourth time in seven games. Prince Albert picked up a big win on Wednesday night, beating the Red Deer Rebels 5-1 on home ice. Sloan Stanick and Niall Crocker each had three point games, while Doogan Pederson scored his first goal at the Art Hauser Centre.
NEARING 200:
After scoring a goal and picking up two assists on Wednesday, Sloan Stanick is now just one point away from 200 in his WHL career. The overage forward is well on his way to finishing the season as the Raiders’ leading scorer, as he has 76 points through 58 games, 24 more than the next closest Raider (Niall Crocker).
THE STANDINGS RACE:
By the end of the weekend, the Raiders could see their playoff positioning improve by one spot, fall by one spot, or not change at all, and here’s how:
If PA wins both games this weekend (@BDN, vs LET) and Brandon loses both (vs PA, vs SAS), the Raiders and Wheat Kings would be tied for sixth place, with the Raiders having one more win.
If PA loses both games and Lethbridge wins both of their games (@SAS, @ PA), the Hurricanes would take over seventh place, and the Raiders would fall to eighth. Also, if PA loses both games and CGY wins both of their games this weekend (@RD, @MH), the Hitmen will be tied with the Raiders in points.
If PA wins one game and loses the other, they will remain in seventh place.
